About Us
The Iron Corbel Inn is a Second-Empire style house located in the heart of downtown Historic Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. The original house was built in the early 1800’s; however, the house you see today was not completed until the mid-1800’s. The third-floor mansard roof was added sometime in the 1880’s. This remarkable home, built by the Watsons and later owned by the McLanahan family, has been completely refurbished though still retains much of its original detail and beautiful façade. This B&B is a family-owned business that has been operating since 2004. The innkeepers, Heather Heitmueller and James Parris, continue to make improvements to the interior and exterior of the home. Heather, the chef of the B&B, is a graduate from Johnson & Wales University for Culinary Arts. James Parris is known for taking historic salvaged materials and turning them into amazing pieces of furniture or art. On occasion, you will find some James Parris Originals for sale on this website along with select home furnishings (see our Seasonal Special’s page).
The Inn is named after two architectural details that can be viewed on the exterior of the house. The iron columns decorated with ladies’ faces that support the porch and the brackets, "also known as corbels," that support the mansard roofline of the third floor. The Bed and Breakfast is a pleasant accommodation for travelers during their visit to Blair County and can serve as a good location for gatherings and events. Marble mantels, original crystal chandeliers, period furnishings and artwork create an elegant, yet cozy front Parlor and Dining Room. The Great Room, with its beautiful stained-glass window seat, large fireplace, mirrors, and piano give guests the chance to experience what it would have been like to live in such a magnificent home. The front porch and a casual living room provide guests with comfortable and less formal spaces to spend their time at the Iron Corbel Inn. Upstairs the house has four tastefully decorated bedrooms, all with private baths, and a two-room suite with a shared bath.
While enjoying your stay at the Iron Corbel Inn, guests can also enjoy the quaintness of small-town Hollidaysburg. The sidewalks of the residential town are lined with beautiful old Victorian houses, many very well preserved. Just blocks from the center of town, which offers private shops, and a short drive to Altoona and many area attractions, our home is the perfect place for a relaxing weekend away or comfortable place for business travelers.
